Create your AIR icons automatically with Fireworks
I have created a little Fireworks command that will automate the creation of AIR icons. It creates the 128, 48, 32 and 16 pixel .png files you can use for your AIR apps and it also supports transparency.
All you need to do is download the ‘AIR_icons.mxp‘ file and open it. It will install using Extension Manager as a new command in Fireworks. Open a Fireworks PNG file and select ‘AIR icons’ from the command menu. Fireworks will create each of the files and save them in the same place as your original. Saves a bit of time.

Does Photoshop have the same sort of functionality? Or is it just in fireworks?

Sure, you can do the same thing in Photoshop.
Photoshop is fully scriptable and here is a link to the’photoshop_cs3_scripting_guide.pdf‘.
In fact Adobe is looking at a whole range of ways to use products like Photoshop through Flash and Flex interfaces both online and in AIR. Try Photoshop Express or view one of my Photoshop Express Galleries.
