Well worth the HYPE
What happens when the ultimate ActionScript geek – Brandon Hall and the ultimate Flash designer – Joshua Davis get together? HYPE!
Brandon and Joshua met at FlashForward in New York in 2000 (funnily enough I was also at that conference) and this began the relationship that led to HYPE.
So what is HYPE? It is a design/visual framework built on top of ActionScript 3 to make it easier for Flash designers and developers to implement a range of fairly complex processes without having to learn how to do complex AS3.
HYPE contains a bunch of classes delivered as function calls that do the complex stuff in the background and let designers focus on the creative side of Flash. To implement very complex processes (and know they are being done properly) all you have to do is use one of the 14 packages and 35 classes that come with the initial release – Version 1.0. And believe me it is very easy to use. I have spent a few hours with it already and am loving it.
You can download HYPE v1.0 from http://hype.joshuadavis.com/ and there are a bunch of example files and tutorials on how to get started.
